First this is your Dad's decision and you should not be airing your families dirty laundry in public. Commission sales can be very lucrative, but it is not uncommon for the commission to be delayed UNTIL the customer pays the invoice which is typically 30-60 days later.
I don't understand the commission backed up thing. Shouldn't he be getting commission for three months ago this month? Most sales workers are paid by incentive. But ultimately this is none of your business. Your father is in charge of his own career.
It is his decision. It isn't like there are a lot of jobs laying around. You are in no position to make that kind of decision for you.
He is well aware of the issue, and I am willing to bet he would get another job if he could find one. <
